Every product that uses wood as its raw material must be treated with a certain amount of care, with the objective of maintaining its original aspect for as long as possible. Learn more about your leisure furniture to guarantee its durability:
Wood is a natural product and is said to be alive. When exposed to alterations in climate (sun, rain, dry or humid air, heat or cold) it is normal for cracks to appear. Amazonia products are elaborated with the humidity of the wood at an adequate percentage so as to maintain the balance between the retractions due to sun and dry air and the expansions due to rain and humidity.
If your furniture is exposed for a long period to only one of the extreme climatic situations, there will be an imbalance in the behavior of the wood. Avoid leaving it outdoors for long periods of time without treatment such as Feron’s Wood Sealer. Excessive contact with the sun causes retractions and cracks, “warping” the larger boards, as well as loosening screws.
For products with Stain finishing, rain can cause a loss in the pigmentation of the eucalyptus. If the piece of furniture is over a porous type of flooring, it can cause a stain, which tends to disappear naturally with rain and sunshine or after the floor has been washed a few times.
Like outdoor teak furniture, outdoor eucalyptus furniture can be treated with teak oil or stain following an annual cleaning to help preserve the wood's natural color. Actual cleaning consists of washing your wood furniture with soap and water. Dish soap and a soft bristled brush work just fine and don’t damage wood. Once wood patio furniture is clean and dry, apply a coat or two of Feron’s Wood Sealer.
Wood that becomes saturated with rain water is more likely to warp and rot, so using waterproof protective covers when your furniture is not in use is highly recommended to keep your wooden patio furniture in good shape. The bases of furniture legs are probably the most vulnerable when it comes to water damage. If wood furniture is kept in the grass, at the poolside, or on a surface that collects even a small level of rain water, the legs can become easily saturated and damaged. Covering the bottoms of each furniture leg with rubberized material or small sections of cedar fencing material will help protect your furniture from rotting from the bottom up.
Maintain the Look of Your Wood Furniture with Feron's Wood Sealer and Protectant
Protect your investment. Seal your new wooden furniture set and reapply Feron's Wood Sealer about every 8-9 months to enhance the wood's natural beauty and prevent the need for any use of cleaner in the future. Our sealer preserves the wood's finish and protects it from mold, mildew and the effects of weather. It is safe for almost any wood. Keep your furniture or other outdoor wood products looking fresh and new. Apply sealer with the easy to use spray dispenser. This product not only seals the wood, but also preserves it by inhibiting oxidation, mold, mildew and that "grey weathered look." It is also highly recommended for use after older wood has been cleaned and restored.
For new wood furniture, apply the sealer/preservative. Average coverage is 34 sq. ft. per quart or a typical set of wood furniture (four wood chairs and a 42" wood diameter table). On new wood we suggest two coats of sealer. For a large table and eight chairs, please place two orders. A 2-coat application will typically last 8-9 months. Sealer is recommended for all woods: teak, redwood, cedar, pine, jarrah, Brazilian cherry, oak and maple. Use it on furniture, gazebos, spa skirting, shake roofs, fences, decks and saunas. Protect your investment and keep that "new feeling" look on your favorite wood products.
