Florence Swivel Rocker: Since early in the 19th Century people have been sitting quietly in their rocking chairs.History shows that this seat was most likely inspired by the rocking horse and the swaying baby cradle, both of which were birthed before the rocking chair.The first of this type of chair actually had 6 legs!It is believed by some the Ben Franklin invented the first prototype by simply attaching two curved pieces of lumber to the bottom of an ordinary chair.First built with all different types of wood, the rocker has always featured a high back that calls for you to lay back your weary head and relax.In the 1850 is when the first metal rocking chair was designed.Adorned with a thick button tufted cushion, it had to be the most comfortable chair yet.Regardless of its’ origins, this chair has only gained popularity throughout the years.Exhausted mothers would use the chair to lull their babies to sleep.Grandparents would spend retired days socializing on the front porch rockers of wicker and wood.
