Feel-Real Christmas trees are the latest in technology for artificial Christmas trees. Poly Ethylene is injected into the molding system to create real tree-like branches and needles. The molded polymer needles then have the thickness and density of a real tree branch. It used to be that PVC needles would end up as a flat needle on the tree, unrealistic by the nature of the product. Today, the difference in looking at the two is startling. You would need to be very close to the PE tree to see that it is not a real tree. Also, because the needles are now three dimensional instead of flat, a wider variety can be created with better realistic looks. It's important to note that often there will be a combination of both PVC and PE (PE/PVC) listed as a product’s materials. Many times artificial Christmas trees will incorporate PVC needles into the construction. In general, the molded tips are in the front while the PVC needles are used to fill in the backs of the branches. This doesn't reduce the quality. If fact, these mixed branches often create a very full, authentic look that is often better than a tree that is made from 100% PE.
